Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

The primary goal of acquiring three new iPads for our lower school's learning lab is to enhance the educational experience by integrating interactive technology more effectively into daily instruction, as we do not have a large smartboard in our room. These iPads will serve as versatile tools for both students and teachers, enabling more interactive, sustainable, and personalized learning opportunities. The iPads will allow for the documentation of student work, reduction of paper use, and the ability to provide differentiated instruction across various subjects.

What will be done with my students

As the Gifted Learning Specialist, I will use the iPads during extended science sessions, allowing students to document their project-based learning through digital portfolios. This includes taking pictures, making notes, and interacting with content in ways that are more dynamic than what is possible with Chromebooks. Additionally, the other learning lab teachers will use the iPads in small group settings to replace paper-based assignments with digital ones, particularly in math and literacy. The iPads will also facilitate differentiated learning, enabling teachers to tailor their instruction to meet the unique needs of each student.

Benefits to my students

The introduction of iPads in the learning lab will significantly benefit our students by fostering a more interactive and engaging learning environment. For gifted students, the ability to create digital portfolios will enhance their project-based learning experiences, making it easier for them to document, reflect on, and share their work. For all students, the reduction in paper use and the ability to receive differentiated instruction will lead to a more sustainable and personalized educational experience. Additionally, with the inclusion of durable covers and headphones, the iPads will be well-protected and usable in a way that supports individual learning needs and promotes focused study.

Budget Narrative

The budget of $1,505 is allocated to acquire three new iPads, each essential for enhancing student learning through digital portfolios, interactive content, and differentiated instruction. To ensure durability and protection, we have included three Falcon Heavy Duty iPad Cases, totaling $135. Additionally, three Apple Pencils, amounting to $270, are included to enable students to engage with their work more precisely and creatively. We've also allocated $60 for headphones, allowing students to listen to content individually, which promotes focused and personalized learning. This investment ensures that the iPads and accessories will be used effectively and sustainably, providing long-term educational benefits.
