Goal

The goal of this project is to foster a sense of belonging, self-worth, and inclusivity by ensuring that every student at our school, regardless of their socioeconomic background, has the opportunity to celebrate their birthday in a meaningful way. By creating a culture of celebration, we aim to boost students' emotional well-being, encourage positive social interactions, and enhance the overall school climate.

What will be done with my students

1. Emotional Well-being: Many students from low socioeconomic backgrounds may not have the means to celebrate their birthdays at home. This project ensures that every student feels valued and celebrated, which is crucial for their emotional and social development.
2. Inclusivity: By celebrating all students together, we promote inclusivity and community, reinforcing the idea that every student is important and recognized within the school.
3. Positive School Culture: Regular celebrations contribute to a positive and engaging school environment, which can lead to improved student behavior, attendance, and overall morale.
4. Social Connections: Birthday celebrations offer opportunities for students to connect with their peers, fostering stronger friendships and a supportive school community.
 

 

Benefits to my students

1. Increased Student Morale: By celebrating each student’s birthday, we expect to see a noticeable improvement in overall student morale and happiness.
2. Improved Attendance: A more positive and engaging school environment, bolstered by these celebrations, is likely to encourage better attendance, contributing to our broader goal of reducing chronic absenteeism.
3. Enhanced Social Cohesion: Regular school-wide celebrations will strengthen the bonds between students, leading to a more cohesive and supportive student body.
4. Greater Student Engagement: Feeling valued and celebrated can boost students’ engagement in both academic and extracurricular activities, contributing to their overall success.
 

 

Budget Narrative

We will provide each student with a birthday hat, pencil, bracelet, sticker, button, and tiara. We will use the bins to store the items. We will use the button maker and Cricut Press to make the items above. We will use the big post-it notes to celebrate the students outside of the classroom door.
