What will be done with my students

Increasing math fact fluency significantly benefits students by enhancing their problem-solving skills and boosting their confidence. When students quickly and accurately recall basic arithmetic facts, they can tackle more complex problems and focus on understanding higher-level concepts rather than struggling with basic calculations.
Additionally, strong math fact fluency lays a solid foundation for advanced math skills, supports better performance on assessments, and fosters a positive attitude toward math. Fluent recall of basic facts leads to quicker and more accurate problem-solving, which is crucial for timed tests and real-world applications.
This grant is connected to our IB curriculum as students become knowledgeable and use self-management skills, two traits of IB learners, to learn their math facts. Students will use their self-management skills as they work to learn their facts and become fluent. Learning their math facts will allow students the ability to become knowledgeable in more advanced math skills.

Benefits to my students

We expect that our students' math scores in 2nd - 5th grade (approximately 326 students) on the FAST, STAR, and i-Ready assessments will increase as they become proficient in their math fact fluency.
