Goal

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach to create a positive and supportive school environment that promotes the social, emotional, and academic development of all students through the effective implementation of strategies to establish behavioral supports and a connected culture and sense of belonging.

What will be done with my students

Our Lavern Gaynor Elementary School Sea Turtles will receive Positive Referrals which can be written by all staff on campus and input into Data Monitoring in FOCUS. Feedback with Certificates printed for each student will be showcased on our Wonder Wall!

Action Steps for Implementation

1. Developing our LGE Sea Turtle expectations:
At LGE we collaborate to establish and communicate school-wide Positive Behaviors based on the following "S.W.I.M." expectations which we say on the LGE news each morning:

Show respect
Work responsibly
Include and connect
Make safe choices ...and make a Splash at LGE!!!

2. Our Sea Turtle Tokens allow students to spend their tokens on incentives at our Turtle Token Store! Our structured reward system reinforces positive behaviors consistently throughout LGE!

3. Displaying an appealing Wonder Wall in the center of the school to review Positive Referrals throughout the hallway at LGE when colorful referrals of student's names are posted for all classmates and family members to see throughout the entire school year.

4. LGE Engages Students in Decision-Making
We involve students in the development of school-wide theme days that they vote on to promote positive behavior! 

 

Benefits to my students

Our Sea Turtles will increase Positive Behavior Recognition

at Lavern Gaynor Elementary School for Kindergarten to 5th grade students to receive positive recognition for demonstrating expected behaviors by the end of the school year.

We will reduce Office Discipline Referrals for all students at LGE and decrease the number of office discipline referrals compared to the previous school year.

At LGE we will improve Student Engagement
and aim for all students to feel safe and supported at school.

Let us enhance Family and Community Involvement:
by increasing family participation in school events focused on behavior support and family events after school in the evenings each month.

By focusing on these goals and action steps, Lavern Gaynor Elementary School can foster a more positive school climate, reduce behavioral issues, and enhance the overall learning experience for all students. 

 

Budget Narrative

Lavern Gaynor Elementary will create an incentive Wonder Wall with a Sea Turtle Underwater theme. We will have each student receive an eraser from a surprise dispenser, and additionally their referral will be placed on the Wonder Wall of where all students will see their name and Positive Referral. This Wonder Wall masterpiece will be seen by all visitors to Lavern Gaynor Elementary, district personnel, parents, volunteers, faculty, staff and our most important Lavern Gaynor Elementary Sea Turtles!
