Goal
I want to take advantage of the latest popular toy - the Pop-it and provide one for each student to use for phonics and math lessons. These toys are engaging and will help motivate students while they are learning standard-based lessons.
Category
Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.
What will be done with my students
Each child will have their own push pop bubble fidget sensory toy that is made of high-quality silicone, non-toxic, reusable, and safe for students. The toys are washable and reusable. The Pop-it bubble fidget toy is a great sensory fidget and also helps to relieve stress. I will have the students use the Pop-it for phonics and phonemic awareness lessons, to do many activities such as: tap out and blend the sounds of letters in words, count out syllables, and count out words in sentences. Our new reading program provides Florida's Best Language Arts Standards powerpoints for these foundational skills. Each child will be able to use the Pop-it during the lesson to increase their engagement and knowledge with this exciting manipulative. I will also use the Pop-it to teach our math standards of counting, adding, subtracting, and word problems.
Benefits to my students
I want to capitalize on this latest fun craze- think perpetual bubble wrap! Young children learn best when engaged in hands-on interactive lessons. These toys will both thrill and motivate young learners to improve their phonics and math skills and provide some physical activity and engagement.
