Goal
Students as young as kindergarten need to have a deep understanding of new Florida standards in reading and writing. They need to be able to respond to text dependent questions and show a deep understanding of text and be able to make inferences. By providing anchor charts and modelling writing every day and posting these charts around the room gives the student a much needed resource that helps them deepen their learning. I need large wall-size post-it notes and small post-it notes so students can highlight and strengthen their understanding of stories. Our math resource also requires we create interactive anchor charts.

What will be done with my students
By showing students how to find answers to higher-level questions in the stories they read and jotting these answers down on sticky notes they can improve their ability to respond to questions on assessments. By modeling good writing and providing samples of standards-based skills around the room students can improve and have a greater chance of success. These charts provide much-needed support to higher-level thinking and detailed writing. Students can also share their thinking in math and anchor charts can be used as a resource for all.
Benefits to my students
The benefit of using sticky notes for modeling, motivation, and response is amazing. The students love to add items to the writing and math anchor charts and write about the text in the columns using small sticky notes. Students use the sticky notes to prove their understanding as we read like detectives and write like reporters.
Budget Narrative
The six large pads will be used for modeling and small post-it notes will be used by students for responding to text. They will be purchased without shipping fees on Amazon prime.
