What will be done with my students
Through the **"Pixel Power"** initiative, students will design, code, and play their own video games using Microsoft MakeCode and handheld devices. They’ll start by brainstorming game ideas, then learn coding fundamentals to bring their visions to life. Hands-on testing will allow students to experience their creations, refine them through peer feedback, and iterate on their designs. The program will culminate in a showcase and game tournament, celebrating student achievements and fostering a collaborative, creative learning environment that equips them with essential skills for the future.
Benefits to my students
The **"Pixel Power"** initiative will benefit students by enhancing their coding and problem-solving skills, which are crucial for success in today’s technology-driven world. By creating their own games, students will engage in critical thinking, creativity, and logical reasoning, all while gaining hands-on experience in programming. The process of designing, testing, and refining their games will build resilience and adaptability, teaching them how to approach challenges with a growth mindset. Additionally, the collaborative nature of the project will improve their communication and teamwork skills, preparing them for future academic and career opportunities in STEM fields. The pride and confidence gained from seeing their ideas come to life on handheld devices will inspire continued exploration and learning.
Budget Narrative
Students will be able to use these devices in groups. Five will provide an opportunity for students to share and take turns using.
