Goal

The goal is to integrate high-quality picture books into history lessons, providing students with engaging visual narratives that complement and enrich their understanding of historical events and figures. These books will serve as a unique tool for connecting students emotionally to the past.

Category

Class Furniture - Carpets, choral risers, transitional seating/desks, etc.

What will be done with my students

Students will explore historical themes and events through picture books that align with the curriculum, using the stories and illustrations as a springboard for discussion, analysis, and hands-on activities. Picture books will be incorporated into lessons as an interactive and visual way to approach complex historical topics.

Benefits to my students

The use of picture books in history lessons will make historical content more accessible and engaging, especially for visual learners or students who struggle with traditional textbooks. This approach will help foster a deeper emotional connection to history while also promoting literacy and critical thinking skills.

Budget Narrative

The requested funds will be used to purchase a variety of picture books that cover different time periods and cultural perspectives, with a focus on those that align with the thematic units in history class.
