Goal

The goal is to improve students' math understanding and ability with a more intensive skill-based program. Using a specific program designed specifically for middle school students requiring a different style of math instruction will lead to a higher math understanding. Additionally, using a mastery approached online program (Aleks) for these students to close mathematical gaps.

What will be done with my students

My students will be instructed in a skill-based intervention math program. This program designed by Maneuvering the Middle focuses on number sense, small group tiered instruction and application of the skills. It focuses on instructing students through a skill-based program that allows students to have a true understanding of the skills needed in middle school math. Additionally, students will be assigned weekly intervention through the Alek program to support their math intervention.  

 

Benefits to my students

The students will improve their math understanding and ability, which will help close their mathematical gaps. This way they will be able to have a firm understanding of mathematics in preparing for high school.  

 

Budget Narrative

The cost of the Maneuvering the Middle Skill Based Program is $289.00 and will be used to structure the lower-level math classes in middle school. The yearly Aleks program is approximately $1687.70 for subscription for 35 students (about 48.22 per student).
