Goal
My goal is to begin a typing club in my 5th grade classroom. During the club, students would learn keyboard and typing skills to aid them in all subject areas but especially in language arts and writing. The goal of typing club is to teach students the correct way to type which can have lasting impact on them beyond 5th grade.

What will be done with my students
Students will work in rotations on the computers. They will use an online typing program, such as TypingClub.com, which is designed to teach students the proper way to type in a fun and interactive manner. Typing club will last all year long and will be held daily. When typing club is not going on, computers will be available for use by others in the school. My students will also use the computers for typing their writing projects, reports, and educational review games.
Benefits to my students
Through typing club, students will learn the proper way to type. This will help them type their writing pieces and reports in a timely and professional manner. Learning to type in 5th grade will set students up for success in the future as they move onto middle school and beyond. In addition to typing club, these computers may be accessed by any of the other 170 students in our school.

6 Lenovo Chromebooks will allow my 18 students to work in 3 rotations of 6.
