This proposal is to fund some tubano drums to further build a set for my classroom at Naples Park Elementary. These are key for a World Music Drumming inspired classroom and will last due to their high quality. This grant will ask for 5 tubano drums.

What will be done with my students
The World Music Drumming curriculum uses tubano drums as a tool to learn, share, create, and innovate. We learn songs from various sources including Afro-Cuban, Latin, and West African. These will improve our sense of rhythm, phrasing, beat, improvisation skills, all vital skills as a growing musician. I am certified Level 2 for World Music Drumming and will share my knowledge with my students.
Benefits to my students
These drums not only are a key part in World Music Drumming but are used for steady beat and rhythm activities. They will be used by all grades (K-5). They enhance improvisation skills which brings out creativity in the students as well as gives them a chance to shine in the classroom. World Music Drumming is a language for the students to communicate with each other as they play, honing their listening skills as a musician and person. We will encounter new rhythms, songs of various cultures, and enhance our musical literacy skills. We are in need of more drums at Naples Park Elementary to make all this happen.
Budget Narrative
This budget will be used to buy 5 tubano drums. The first purchase is a set of three that West Music provides for $1019.85. It includes a 10",12", and 14" drum. Then I will individually purchase another 10" ($299.95) and 14" ($389.95). There is no tax or shipping fee through West Music so this is the final price. I vouch for these specific drums because they are the longest lasting, best sounding, and most durable drums that I've used for years.
