Goal

This grant is focusing on school wide zones of regulation lessons. Zones of Regulation is a framework designed to help individuals understand and manage their emotions and behaviors in a healthy way. Through multiple lessons throughout the school year students will learn to identify their feeling, recognize triggers, and utilize coping strategies to regulate their emotions in order to perform their best in each class. We would like to create an enriched environment for our students to grow academically with less barriers and more confidence in problem solving.
This grant will help with upfront costs of supplies for classroom lessons and coping tools that will then be reused in upcoming years as we continue to provide these opportunities for our students. Students will also have the opportunity to purchase the best coping tools for them from the school store to encourage them to be self-sufficient in their zones regulation training.

What will be done with my students

This grant will support our teachers and students through zone baskets, fidgets, folders, paper and other supplies. To create a more welcoming and enriched experience for our students, we would like to purchase supplies which will be used in creating zone baskets for teachers which will contain different types of fidgets for students to use in regulating energy level and feelings. Students will have zone lessons that review the emotions and energy associated with each zone and can customize their zones to fit them best. Students will learn coping strategies to help regulate strong emotions or too much/little energy to help refocus and prepare them for success within the classroom. Every student at TBE will be familiar with zones. Students that need additional zone lessons will receive either group or individual zone lessons that dive deeper into triggers and additional regulating skills.

Zones of Regulation helps students to regulate their emotions and behavior by empowering and equipping our students with the skills to feel their best and confidence to tackle any problem socially or academically. The skills learned through zones of regulation give our students the ability to be adaptable and promote kindness, purpose, connection, and hope whether it's within the school or community.
