Goal
The goal of this initiative is to provide students with an incentive for their on-time attendance at school in the effort to improve our overall school attendance numbers. Beat the Bell is a program in which we want to help instill in our students, from a young age, the importance of showing up to school every day and on time. We measure this by using our previous year's data on attendance and tardies as our base level and monitor those numbers each week throughout the school year. Last year, our average daily attendance was 87.8% which is one percent higher than the year prior. The goal is to raise that number to at least 95% by the end of the school year.

What will be done with my students
"Beat the Bell" takes place every morning during our "Morning Show" that hosts school announcements. A number is called and students assigned to that number who are in their seat and ready to start the day earn a "Beat the Bell" pass in which they visit the School Social Worker to receive a prize of their choice. This is something that the student's look forward to every morning and shows that they are valued and can be rewarded for their role in being a responsible student.
This grant would also support other school wide attendance initiatives like our monthly AttenDance, which is a dance party for those who gained perfect attendance for the entire month, and our weekly grade-level incentives. These incentives aim to encourage students to have a more positive relationship with school and instill in them a mindset that when you work hard and do your best, you can be rewarded as such.
Benefits to my students
This grant will benefit all students grades K-5 by getting them excited about coming to school and having something fun to look forward to in the mornings. This grant will, in turn, aid teachers in improving their test scores as student attendance plays a big role in how much they are able to learn throughout the year. This grant can also help to foster more confidence in our students by showing them that they are worthy of receiving good things and being rewarded for their hard work and dedication.
Budget Narrative
These items are all for our various attendance incentives at Robles Elementary. I have taken feedback of what items students would like to see more of and can use this as a way to let them know that their voices are being heard. The $870 will buy 16 batches of items to give out to our students daily to encourage them that when they show up, school can be rewarding in more ways than one.
