Goal

Our goal is to create an impactful service project for a place where the students are proud of the work they accomplished by spreading messages of kindness in various languages, building a sense of ownership, and showing pride in beautifying our school campus.

What will be done with my students

Our River Rock club will have students work together to write positive kind art and messages in various languages on our campus river rocks display to make our school community look presentable and welcoming to visitors and parents. They will use acrylic paint and glow-in-the-dark paint to write and paint rocks during our club time. We will encourage our students in the club to be proud of their work and promote kindness by showing the students how to integrate their native home language into their messages and make it enjoyable so that their artwork and messages will seen by our parents and students during evening events. 

 

Benefits to my students

Our Title 1 school, is in the community of Immokalee, a small agriculturally based town. Our school community has home languages of 44% Spanish, 21% Haitian Creole, 12% other, and 22% English speakers. Having our students create something they are proud of will help them boost their school community by spreading beauty and kindness. These messages are needed in our world with a range of kind words in various languages. Even better our students can show off to their parents and be proud of how they helped our campus look amazing with their art, and words of kindness in their native languages. Most importantly, having built a sense of home for our students and parents that this is their school.
