What will be done with my students
This project will benefit the students by providing them with a firsthand experience of a college campus, and opportunity many may not have due to socioeconomic barriers. It will help them see that college is an attainable goal, even for first-generation college students, and broaden their perspective beyond their own neighborhoods. Through exposure to college life, they will gain a better understanding of what higher education offers. Also, interacting with current college students will be inspire and may provide some with role models and motivate many to aspire their own college aspirations.
Benefits to my students
Students will gain knowledge of college requirements including acceptance requirements, scholarship requirements, and the number of years required to get desired degrees.
Students will become gain awareness of college life. They will learn about dorm life, extracurricular activities offered, clubs and organizations and classroom structure.
Students will also shape or re-shape their perceptions about college which will now be based on firsthand experiences.
