Goal
The goal of this project is to provide my special needs intellectually disabled students hands on concepts to reinforce the state science standards. The students take the FAA (Florida Alternate Assessment) based on the states Access Points Standards for 4th and 5th grade. These hands-on activities are meant to help them excel in life and the world by showing success on these concepts. Students will also be given a pre and post test to measure the amount of understanding for each science concept.

What will be done with my students
Students will work in groups with an adult to practice real life science applications to gain understanding of the world around them. This is also to help increase their critical thinking skills which will aid in future areas of life when they are working toward vocational skills. We plan to begin implementation as soon as we receive the items. This will become a permanently integrated project that can be used for years to come.
Benefits to my students
Students will be able to demonstrate the concepts with 20% increase in understanding over the course of the school year. Students will be given a pre and posttest to show the growth. This accuracy will help students increase their success on science standards during state testing and show growth on critical concepts necessary for life.
