My goal is to increase the reading engagement in my classroom using different reading strategies, techniques and platforms. I will be able to accomplish this goal by adding culturally relevant books to my classroom library, providing reliable technology and offering flexible seating.
State of Florida Curriculum Standards:
LAFS.3.RL.4.10 which states: By the end of the year, students will read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poetry, at the high end of the grades 2–3 text complexity band independently and proficiently.
This project will give me the opportunity to reach all of my students. Just like we all learn differently, I feel as though we all are engaged differently as way. So providing my students with choices of how, what and where they read could definitely increase engagement.
-My below level readers will be increase their reading levels.
-My class will increase form being 47% proficient to 70% proficient.
-Students become self motivate to engage and discuss new text.
