Purchase four (4) VEX IQ Super kits for students to use in class and in after school STEM clubs. Robots will be used in a girls Robotic STEM club. Each kit will cost $430.00. Four (4) kits will cost $1,720.00
Last year, through various grants Barrington MS has acquired 12 VEX IQ robots. For Barrington MS students to fully explore the science of robotics, we need additional robots for student engagement. Currently, we are using a virtual-world software program that allows students to apply their coding and programming skills; however, we are limited with the 12 "hands-on" physical robots for student use. We are also wanting to create a 6th grade girls robotic club and would like this club to use the additional robots too.
Students will form groups of two-three and work as a team to build and program their robot to achieve an objective. Lesson materials are available from the manufacturer to assist in the learning process. These robots can be used in class to reinforce student coding skills. Students who sign up for the optional STEM Robotic club will be provided additional instructional activities after-school and will be offered the opportunity to compete at middle school robotic competitions through robotevents.com.
Each Vex Superkit will cost $330.00. Each kit will require the additional Competition Add-on kit for 100.00. Four complete kits will cost $1720.00.
