Find It Fund It Florida - Hillsborough Education Foundation

The goal is to excite disadvantaged students who have extremely limited access to modern books that will inspire them. Our school has wonderful students who have far fewer books and resources to spark a love of learning than the great majority of our fellow American children. I have found that new, vivid, nonfiction books are especially appealing to our kids. Kids especially love animals. We intend to use these books for multiple areas of study for natural history, biology, science, and the environment across all of our grade levels. Putting relevant texts that have updated text features and photographs will help the students meet the nonfiction standard categories: key ideas and details, craft and structure, and integration of ideas. We hope to have new and colorful books for our library which lags far behind most elementary libraries due to a lack of community resources. Publisher Mackin has completed a collection analysis of our current library collection which shows that our nonfiction animal collection has an average age of 2004. The books are largely worn and tired. The recommended average age for our animal collection is 2010. The report recommends that we boost our nonfiction to 40 percent of our collection from the current 28 percent. We would love to have new animal and natural history books to give our students every opportunity to create a love of reading and learning.

Detailed Cost Summary

A detailed cost summary is available. All 97 books are nonfiction texts on animals. I have a PDF that lists all the details from Publisher Mackin. The list includes title, author, date of print, ISBN, reading level, interest level and the price. I was not sure how to attach a PDF to this application. I would be happy to send it. Thank you very much.
