Spurlino Foundation - $1,496.00
S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Students endeavor to create a safe place to support and encourage young learners to code and create a currency of kindness within our school. The arcade will provide proficiency in technology, reading skills, and simulations geared toward educational pursuits.
Students will benefit from having a safe space where they earn through positivity, the experience for hands on training.
The SAVE club aims to create positive place for unity in technology. As of now, the SAVE club has collected a number of old video game systems. These students would like to create a place that is in memory of their fellow student who passed away at football practice last year.
There are many reasons that this resonates with our students. My students frequently feel social pressure to act tough in front of their older peers, teammates, coaches and even their families. Our school provides a safe place for these same kids to (what they refer to lovingly as) "nerd out" without the fear of being labeled by others.
The benefit of projects like these aim to improve student behavior and reward students for being kind. The SAVE Club feels that a better relationship with mental health is paramount to learning, and this arcade can be the cornerstone.
The house system will gather strength. The bonds formed by the SAVE club will enable more students to use kindness as currency instead of anger. Students will also be able to use this space as an area for restorative behavior.
The procurement of actual real standing video game systems will add to the SAVE clubs abilty to keep students engagement positive.
These are the cost of real arcade machines. Student will work to raise other funds for associated lounge seating.
