Project Goal

To increase student engagement and achievement in science for those receiving instruction through both eLearning and brick-and-mortar settings.

How Project Benefits Students

A year-long school subscription to Generation Genius will provide all students/families/teachers with unlimited access to a digital library of fun and engaging videos, 5E lessons, hands-on activities, learning games, and assessments that supplement the HMH curriculum. The videos will pique student interest by having them observe phenomena and generate their own questions. Student-generated questions can be used to promote meaningful discussions and guide instruction.

The Generation Genius videos are produced in partnership with the National Science Teaching Association, and closed captioning is available in English and Spanish to support diverse learners. In addition, the Generation Genius resources address 92% of the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards.

The Generation Genius resource will be beneficial to students/families/teachers in both eLearning and brick-and-mortar settings.

Expected Outcome(s)

* Student participation in online science activities will increase, as evidenced by the percentage of students successfully completing assignments.

* Student engagement in science will increase in brick-and-mortar settings, as evidence by teacher and/or students surveys.

* Student achievement in science will increase, as evidenced by classroom, site, and district pre/post assessments.

Detailed Cost Summary
