My goal is to create a semi-portable Audio/video broadcasting/recording studio with modern day capabilities (record, livestream, phone integration for call-ins and remote recording). It will support the following standards:
CTE-AATC.68.GENRL.03 Develop a project related to visual arts, performing arts, journalism and broadcasting.
CTE-AATC.68.GENRL.04 Develop a project related A/V technology, film, and printing technology.
CTE-AATC.68.GENRL.05 Utilize technology as it relates to A/V technology, film, and printing technology.
CTE-AATC.68.GENRL.06 Utilize technology as it relates to visual arts, performing arts, journalism and broadcasting.
Being at a Title I school, most of my students don’t have the opportunity to interact with state of the art audio/video equipment. This studio will give students access to equipment used by legitimate podcasters, streamers, broadcasters, and independent musicians whom they already know. Students will get valuable experience in real world scenarios and be able to express themselves in new ways. We currently do not have a way to record high quality audio (although students have recorded many original songs), and we currently to do not have the ability to broadcast/stream a live show, or even record live to video. This equipment will allow students accomplish all of these things, and more.
Students will use the equipment to express themselves creatively and develop real-world skills and talents they can apply in a professional setting. Also, as a result of our expanded capabilities, I foresee more students wanting to become involved in TV production and the Digital Media Club. Furthermore, we will be able to perform live broadcasts on location – school events, press conferences, sports, etc – not just inside a studio. This will allow students to develop and showcase a new set of skills that are applicable and highly marketable in the real world.
