Through funding a 6-seater buggy, we will be accomplishing a two-part goal. Firstly, the buggy will increase student safety, primarily at parent drop-off and pick-up times, and lead to an easier transition to and from the classroom. Secondly, the buggy will provide opportunities for increased outdoor activities for science, lead to more conversations between peers, and even allow for fieldtrips beyond the school campus.
Due to recent COVID restrictions, parents can no longer walk their students to the door of our classroom. In our class, which consists of three and four-year-old students with exceptionalities, extra steps must be taken to ensure students' comfort and safety during the transition to and from the classroom. By lowering students' stress at this time of day, we will also be giving them room to take in their surroundings, talk with each other, and connect with their classmates and teachers. Additionally, as mentioned, we can use the buggy during the school day for outdoor explorations with students, and even on fieldtrips. The buggy will increase student engagement in activities, and allow teachers to focus on content, rather than constantly counting students to make sure everyone is together.
Funding this project would help students succeed in a number of Florida Early Learning Standards:

-Physical Wellbeing Safety Standard 1. Shows awareness of safety and increasingly demonstrates knowledge of safe choices and risk assessment when participating in daily activities

-Social and Emotional Development Standard D2. Develops sense of identity and belonging through exploration and persistence
-Language and Literacy Standard E2. Asks questions, and responds to adults and peers in a variety of settings
