Project Goal

My goal with these books is to foster a love of reading as well as provide real life skills to my students in helping to solve their real world problems and stresses. These books will give them tools and useful techniques to guide them in their independent practices and problems solving skills.

How Project Benefits Students

This year I will be supporting my students in their independent reading as well as dealing with stress in the classroom. All the books will help them to understand the structures within reading for both fiction and nonfiction. By using these diverse books, I will be addressing various standards in reading. Some of them are:
LAFS.4.RL.1.1, LAFS.4.RL.1.3, LAFS.4.RL.3.9
LAFS.4.RI.1.2. LAFS.4.RI.1.3, LAFS.4.RL.3.9
All these standards are going to help the students look at various texts and ideas and compare and contrast them within stories and within real life. They will also help them to think about characters and the real world and how their problems can be addressed and solved for themselves using the stories they hear.

Expected Outcome(s)

The outcomes I am looking to address are having the students be able to use their love of reading to then address real life issues and problems they might face in these challenging times. By being able to hear and read about what imaginary characters have done to help themselves, I am hoping that those skills will spill over into my students lives.
