My goal is for students to have the materials necessary to complete engaging LEGO STEM challenges during their STEM block.
I am requesting Creative LEGO Brick Sets by LEGO Education for students to use to complete STEM design challenges during their STEM block. STEM-related jobs have grown 79% since 1990, outpacing overall U.S. job growth and providing STEM workers higher wages than their non-STEM counterparts. In order to best prepare out students for the future, they need opportunities to problem solve by building and testing their designs. With these Creative LEGO Brick Sets, I will have the resources necessary to give my students these opportunities. I will be able to use these materials immediately upon receiving them. These kits will be used with kindergarten through fifth grade students at my school, not only during this school year but also for years to come. These materials will support instruction of the NGSSS Science Nature of Science standards.
All of the approximately 470 students at my school will benefit from these materials. They will have the opportunity to use these during their STEM block. By presenting my students with LEGO STEM challenges, I expect that they will raise questions about the natural world, investigate through free exploration and systematic observations, and generate appropriate explanations based on those explorations.
The brick sets can be purchased from LEGO Education. I am requesting 22 sets and the total comes to $1,538.90.
