My goal is to provide resources to enrich my students. I teach K-5 Gifted and Talented. I am new to this position and do not have many resources to support my students. I want to provide them with a challenging curriculum to push them above and beyond! The sky is not the limit, I want them to go further!
This project will provide me with the resources to challenge my gifted students in grades K-5. Gifted students need specialized curriculum that goes above and beyond what they receive in the regular education classroom.
They need to be taught thinking skills, presented with real world problems, challenged with logic puzzles, and allowed to tackle them in creative ways. Their "outside the box" thinking amazes me. I need resources to make sure they are challenged each and every day.
The books I am requesting will help me ensure varied and challenging resources are always available to my students. They will provide me with resources for many years to come. I am just starting out in Gifted so this will be a huge help!

Students will be challenged to perform beyond their grade level expectations. I want them to learn and apply deep thinking skills, especially in mathematics and STEM.
This is important because that is where the jobs of the future will lie. Everyday I prepare my students for an unwritten tomorrow; flying cars, commuting to the Moon to work, teleportation? Who knows, but I want them to develop the thinking skills necessary to solve problems that have not yet been thought out.
The standards this project supports will be the Florida Gifted Standards which are composed of 7 goals: examine the complexity of knowledge, create adapt and asses questions, thoughtful research, think creatively and critically to solve real word problems, assume leadership and participatory goals, set and achieve personal and academic goals, and develop and deliver products and performances.
It will also support the math standards in grades K-5. As well as support STEM education.
The 758.00 will be used to purchase Gifted Resource books and student materials for students in grades K-5 to support enrichment in a gifted classroom.
