Our current Closed Circuit TV equipment is quite old and about to be incompatible with the digital/ streaming technology that will be installed in all schools. We want to bring our CCTV studio into alignment with current standards.
The CCTV studio is used daily by the Morning Show Crew to bring daily announcements to all students and staff in the school. We use the time before the show begins to highlight literature by playing book trailers and excerpts for everyone to enjoy. Throughout Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Women's History Month, etc., we like to play brief videos to expose all students to history, biographies, and other important content. Recording videos with students to play on the morning show is motivating and strengthens the school culture. Seeing their peers, teachers, or principal on the morning show each day also contributes to a positive school culture.
Having CCTV equipment that is compatible with current technology will enable us to continue producing a daily morning show. In addition, having new equipment would expand our morning show possibilities and give our crew (students) opportunities to learn to use current equipment. Students who have had experience as anchors on the morning show are learning important skills, laying a foundation for ease in interviews or public speaking.
The funds requested will not provide an entirely new CCTV studio, but will enable us to be able to upgrade the video switcher so that we can have a morning show once the school's technology has been updated. The update is something that is happening in all schools eventually. Without the new video switcher, we would not be able to continue having a morning show.
