Through the use of Lego kits, I will be able to teach physical science skills using the concept of sports to deliver STEAM lessons. Having extra time with science concepts outside of the traditional classroom setting will positively impact the science scores of all students.
As a media specialist, I have the ability to impact the learning of every student on campus. By implementing STEAM lessons from LEGO education, I will be able to reinforce physical science skills taught in the classroom. Having extra time, and alternative lessons, will greatly benefit all learners. These kits can be used year after year to reach a maximum amount of students. These lessons will be taught over a 7-10 week time frame and are meant to be carried out in small groups. This also allows for collaboration and communication practice among learners.
This grant will have the ability to impact all teachers and students on campus. The curriculum is built for grades 1-5 but can also be used with K with some slight modifications. By taking part in these STEAM lessons, students test scores will improve and they will also gain collaboration and communication skills needed to be successful in all areas.
Lego BricQ Motion Kits are $99.95 per kit. Each kit is meant for 2 students. Having 11 kits will enable a whole class to work at the same time.
