Project Goal

This project seeks to build POSITIVE BEHAVIOR amongst our student population by using behavior modification and reinforcement techniques to increase teachers' instructional time and enhance student academic performance.

How Project Benefits Students

Lamb is a Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS) school; therefore, this system will be permanently integrated school-wide. This grant will aide us in building positive school-wide and classroom communities by providing the financial support needed to fund varied systems of reinforcement. We are focusing on building upon Tier 1 resources and support, so the allotted grant money will be used to fund trainings for teachers and staff on positive behavior interventions, social emotional learning (SEL), and to purchase items used for the PBIS store (classroom and school-wide).

Students who have learned ways to positively re-direct their own choices have a significant increase overall in academic outcomes. In addition, attendance and overall family engagement is improved. Parents whose students receive positive reinforcement are more likely to join PTA and support academic initiatives.

Teachers by nature love working with their students, but often lack the funds to provide immediate tangible rewards. This funding will enable them to create their classroom incentives geared around the preferences of their diverse classrooms without requiring them to use personal funds to do so.

Expected Outcome(s)

Our is expectation is that we will see noticeable changes in classroom and school climate, academics and behavior. In addition to improvements in academics, student engagement, and functional/situationally appropriate behavior, our expectation is that staff will feel empowered within their classrooms to use behavior modification strategies (i.e., reinforcement) to intervene when challenging behaviors occur.

Detailed Cost Summary

All items used for the PBIS store and classroom stores will be purchased from Amazon or TeachersPayTeachers. Although some of the behavior modification and behavior management materials can be purchased from Amazon, the Universal Class Behavior Management 101 training will be purchased from the direct website. The items listed above will assist Lamb staff in providing resources and supports school-wide to help promote PBIS initiaitves and contribute to student success.
