Project Goal

My goal is to provide basic instrument necessities such as reeds, oil, cleaning supplies, and sheet music needs for my students so that they can participate in class. By providing these resources, you are allowing students to participate regardless of their financial status.

How Project Benefits Students

Dowdell sits in an area that is very diverse. We are a Title 1 school with 95% of our students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. Passion is not the problem; it is finances. With your donation, you are allowing me to provide for my students and create an atmosphere where they can explore their musical passion instead or worrying about whether or not they can afford it. Music has a way of reaching even the most challenging of students. It gives them something to look forward to, and Band becomes a second home for many. By providing my students with the supplies that they need you are giving someone a chance to be better and providing a place they can call Home.

Expected Outcome(s)

Being a teacher means that I can share my passion of music with the youth of today and hope that it inspire someone to create their own love of music. Sometimes music can lead people to do great things. Your donation will help my students to grow musically, and enjoy learning. The goal is that every student will be able to have the necessities needed so that they can put forth their best effort every day.

Detailed Cost Summary

Some items have multiple amounts next to them depending on the type of item requested. Numbers are based on current enrollment of students. Reeds are a necessary items for woodwind instruments to work. Valve oil is used for brass instruments to keep the valves moving so that students can change notes.
I have requested several different types of mouthpieces so that I can replace some that have gone bad over time.
Drumsticks are for my percussion students to have so that they can practice with at home on a daily basis.
Tuners are to help adjust a student's instrument and to teach them how to make a perfect sound.
Copy paper and sheet protectors are used to give students music, and to help them keep it organized.
Sanitizing spray and wipes are to help keep us safe and clean throughout the year.
All items that have been requested will be used by students, and will allow them the opportunity to be successful in the Band Room.
