Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Mosaic - $1,628.70
To acquire 3 starter kids and 3 expansion Lego Education Spike Prime to begin a Technology Student Association competition league at my school.
Our school is an urban school with an increasing number of low income transitory students. The free and reduced lunch population has risen nearly 10% in the last year alone to 80%. Our students have little exposure to technology on a meaningful basis at home or in their communities. They need opportunities to interact with coding and other STEM activities in order to prepare them for a 21st century career.
The spike prime Legos use SCRATCH coding, and allows our students to enter the exciting world of robotic competitions and begin a TSA (Technology Student Association) here at Mann.
While collaborating with their peers and learning how to code, our students gain invaluable life skills in problem solving, technology, and teamwork.
By introducing these concepts and skills to them they might hopefully discover a future career or study path in college.
The newly formed TSA will use the robots to compete at the district level in the First Lego League competitions.
The sets will also be available after competition in the Media Center Makerspace.
