My speech and language impaired students are in desperate need to interact, connect, learn, and develop through hands-on play, away from the black hole screen time and over stimulation of our digital world.
My goal is to help my speech and language impaired students to improve their articulation, vocabulary, grammar, and overall communication skills through hands-on, imaginative and creative play.
Child development experts, growing research, and doctors around the world confirm the importance and value of hands-on, imaginative play in early childhood language development. Imaginative play is all about communication! The conversation of children during imaginative play enhances their vocabulary and language skills.
This deluxe activity road rug play set will allow for an abundance of language skills to be targered including labeling, describing, narrating, categorizing, and grammar concepts (nouns, verbs, prepositions) during language therapy sessions. Various themes such as community helpers/occupations, transportation, school, and farm can also be targeted during therapy. Students can use their creativity to build a colorful cityscape and farm, match buildings and vehicles to the correct workers, and sort vehicles by water and land. The airport and construction play sets will also allow for endless sessions of language and speech development and practice. Speech sounds in all positions of words can also be targeted during this hands-on play activity during speech therapy. Targeting these various speech and language skills will support the academic learning and overall communication development of my speech and language impaired students.
Imaginative play is a great way to ignite the language, cognitive, and social-emotional development of my speech and language impaired students.
This deluxe road rug play set, the airport play set, and the construction play set will provide engaging and hands-on learning through imaginative play, which will enhance the articulation, vocabulary, language skills, and overall communication development of my speech and language impaired students. The listening lotto (community helpers) will support and reinforce listening, phonemic awareness, concepts of position and many more speech and language skills important to communication development.
These activity play sets and listening lotto will allow my caseload of 50+ speech and language impaired students to improve their communication while working towards their speech and language goals/objectives.
