Project Goal

Children reading for the pleasure and love of traveling to various places, meeting best friends in the characters and seeing themselves in the books they choose and meeting new friends to develop empathy for others. 

 

How Project Benefits Students

Students will have access to all the books from this years Sunshine State Young Readers lists to read as many as possible within our classroom. Not only will students have wonderful titles to choose from but we also take students comprehension farther and these titles will then be used for our video submissions for the districts SLAM showcase to hopefully be one of our schools top videos. This allows students to dive into the themes, messages and summarization of characters in a real world setting as they create and produce videos highlighting the amazing book they chose to represent visually. All we need are the books in our students hands this fall! 

 

Expected Outcome(s)

Working with Title 1 students, this will help create and foster a lifelong love for reading by providing students with many options of books that they will find at least one they are interested in to read. Student literacy stamina, comprehension, vocabulary, and confidence will improve as students are more comfortable reading. 

 

Detailed Cost Summary

The booklist was created through Barnes and Noble website for the current price of the book. Shipping is free over $40 which will definitely be met.
The cost benefit of kids reading and creating, priceless!
