Find It Fund It Florida - Hillsborough Education Foundation

Help my 4th Grade students understand and appreciate how we each feel and deal with emotions. This will then lead to better empathy and understanding on their parts with their peers and those who they come in contact with. That in turn will lead to better understanding and helping one another deal with any issues that might come up.

Project Goal

Help my 4th Grade students understand and appreciate how we each feel and deal with emotions. This will then lead to better empathy and understanding on their parts with their peers and those who they come in contact with. That in turn will lead to better understanding and helping one another deal with any issues that might come up.

How Project Benefits Students

We have a lot of what would have been previously termed "latchkey kids". A lot of them are on their own after school attending to sometimes just themselves but a lot of the time their younger siblings until their adult gets home. I am hoping that these books will help them understand and better deal with any unexpected emotions that they would not normally get a chance to discuss with their adult due to the adult not being available. These will hopefully then lead to them opening up to peers or their adult and talking about what they might be worrying about or be concerned with. Then hopefully a solution will be reached.

Expected Outcome(s)

Create more empathy for themselves and others they come in contact with. This will in turn foster greater kindness and understanding and lead hopefully to a better emotional well being. If their emotional well being is met then the learning can truly begin and my students will be more successful.
