The goal for my project is to provide students with a comfortable area to enjoy reading their books. I would also like to provide them with a variety of books on different topics and levels. This way all students have books that they can read and also want to read. Having a place they feel safe and comfortable to read is extremely important in my classroom and will hopefully instill a love for reading in them at a young age.
This project benefits my students by giving them access to books they are able to read. When students are forced to read books that are too easy or advanced for them, they feel frustrated and won't want to read. Having a large option of books for the students to choose themselves will help them become confident readers. Students also enjoy reading when they can read about things they like - such as animals, princesses, superheroes, etc. I find that when students are able to choose their own books they are much more likely to read the book and to want to read more books. In addition to the books, the students will have a comfortable area to read. Having flexile seating for them to choose from such as a couch, chairs, and the carpet will allow them to relax and enjoy their time reading.
I expect my students to absolutely love their reading corner and book options. In my experience students need to read books they like to love reading and learning. I believe my students will be very comfortable in the reading area and will get excited about being able to read and choose their books. I want to instill a love for reading in them that my teachers gave to me when I was in school. My students deserve to feel safe and loved.
