The goal of my grant is to help my students develop their language and vocabulary to become writers. I want to instill confidence through practice and support to help my students grow.
This project will directly affect my students on a daily basis. They will be completing a daily language practice, which will support their growth and allow them to develop our complex language. We will also complete a paragraph a week, focusing on conventions and structure. We will continue to growth throughout the year until they are confidently writing a three to four paragraph paper. The students will have a variety of resources to support their learning process. The majority of my students have English as their second language and through this grant they will be able to develop as writers.
The expected outcomes are that my students are able to independently complete a variety of writing pieces. This grant will directly affect forty students in my class, because I will be teaching two classes of ELA. My students will also be coaching other ELA classes, so this grant has potential to help 80 students. I will be collaborating with my ELA partner; therefore, two teachers will be supported through this grant.
Items 1-8 are going to be purchased from Lakeshore Learning. Items 1, 2 and 6, I will need 4 sets. Items 4 and 7, I will need 2 of each. Item 9 will come from School Specialty and I will need 40. Items 10 and 11 will be from Staples.
