My goal is to get as many books in my students' hands as possible.
Research shows that the more children read, the better readers they become. Yet it is very difficult to go find picture books from the store or library that fit young readers. I want to make copies of reproducible books to allow my students to have books on their reading level, to help them feel successful.
It is very difficult to find books on a beginning reader level so my students feel successful as a reader. Many picture books are 32 pages! That is a lot of pages for a young reader and many do not have the stamina to keep on reading. I would like to be able to make copies of decodable and easy reader books so that my students have a large supply of books that they can read at all times.
I want to give my students books that are engaging, have many sight words, and decodable words that they can read so that they feel successful.
I am asking for copy paper to be able to make these books. I also would like to create games to go along with the books such as word building, sentence building, and other games to help students become better readers.
This year, I will be teaching 2 classes of first graders. I am teaching Reading and Writing, while my partner will teach Math and Science. I am excited to be able to teach so many young learners how to read. I hope that these books and games will make reading exciting for them.
I am asking for copy paper to make the reproducible books for my students. I am also asking for staples to put the books together.
I requested cardstock and lamination to create sight words and phonemic awareness games to go along with their easy reader books.
