Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Verizon Foundation - $1,533.60
The goal of this project is to create a classroom space that will enable students to enhance their coding skills using hands-on devices.
The Lego Spike Kit contains a device, with various accessories, that students can program.
I'm a business technology teacher in a Title 1 school where 90% of our students are economically disadvantaged. Thus, the majority of my students lack the opportunity to work with the latest forms of technology.
The Lego Spike Kit will my students an opportunity to "see" their results of their code using the hands-on devices and have fun as their are learning.
The students will also be given an opportunity to see how software and hardware work together on another technological device besides the computer.
The Innovation Station will be permanently integrated into the lessons. The devices will primarily used to enhance skills learned in the various lessons throughout the year.
Increase students' confidence in their ability to learn how to code (drag-and-drop coding and text-based coding -- HTML, CSS, and Python).
Increase students' critical and logical thinking skills, communication skills, and coding skills.
Increase students' interest in STEM careers.
