Project Goal

The purpose of this project is to implement a phonics program that will increase students K-2 school wide phonics knowledge. It will also provide interventions for our struggling readers through fun stories that students will understand based on the "Secret Stories" phonics program.

How Project Benefits Students

This specific project would help to increase students in grades K-2 by increasing their phonics and phonological awareness skills. This program can help to fill in specific gaps that students might have in their reading knowledge. By developing students phonics and phonological awareness skills, this helps to increase their fluency and comprehension skills. Students will be able to decode difficult words easier by using specific phonics rules. The "Secret Stories" program uses a "brain based approach" to learning phonics in a fun and meaningful way for students. As an educator, I believe that this program will help to set all students up for success.

Expected Outcome(s)

The specific program is designed to improve students phonics and phonological awareness skills, improve decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills, and to increase their ability to produce words on paper which improves their writing skills. This will have an impact on grades K-2.
