The goal is to create a more diverse classroom library for my students. Students enjoy reading more when they have various topics to choose from and they can make connections with their own lives or personal interests while reading.
The students will have access to various grade/age appropriate texts. In addition, the variety of books will provide the students the opportunity to choose books that they find interesting and promote reading for pleasure. This increased variety will help promote a love for reading that I enjoy fostering in my classroom to help grow better readers.
Student reading performance will be enhanced with the variety of books available. Students' vocabulary will also benefit from the new range of books available to them.
The cost summary includes a 300 count set of books that covers a wide variety of topics. I have also included science books, mysteries, beginning chapter and a National Geographic collection. These items have an approximate/average useful life of 5-7 years with an average of 18 students per year - this grant will impact 90-126 students at a minimum.
