Find It Fund It Florida - Hillsborough Education Foundation

My goal with this project is to give students the right to independently explore our core learning objectives through their senses. Some of my students in access points have physical barriers such as wheelchairs or muscular dystrophy that prohibit them from exploring in the traditional way. This project will give them the chance to explore independently despite their physical challenges. My goal is also to give my students the chance to be exposed to something new. Sometimes at schools the equipment is easily worn down and damaged and by the time it gets to the students it doesn’t work properly to benefit them in the best way.

Project Goal

My goal with this project is to give students the right to independently explore our core learning objectives through their senses. Some of my students in access points have physical barriers such as wheelchairs or muscular dystrophy that prohibit them from exploring in the traditional way. This project will give them the chance to explore independently despite their physical challenges. My goal is also to give my students the chance to be exposed to something new. Sometimes at schools the equipment is easily worn down and damaged and by the time it gets to the students it doesn’t work properly to benefit them in the best way.

How Project Benefits Students

Students will be able to use these tools to maximize sensory in the classroom. They will be able to tap into all parts of their brain to explore independently or with a peer. Self guided discovery is so important for our young students. The students can sometimes be victim of poverty. Students with similar challenges to them might be able to experience the luxery of outside or even at home therapy. Unfortunately, my students usually do not get that opportunity. This equipment will help give them some of the experience their missing! It will also ensure the families confidence knowing that at school their learning is not disrupted by physical barriers.

Expected Outcome(s)

Students will be able to work with their peers or independently to explore their learning through sensory play and discovery. Students will tap into all of their interests and skills with these tools! Students and families will also be able to see that physical barriers do not set you back from exploration and independence. My access points students will have confidence to conquer things they couldn’t previously!
