The goal of this project is to establish a school-wide gardening space for students to enjoy.
I would like to create a garden space for my students to plant a variety of crops and maintain their growth throughout the year. My goal is for the garden to become a relaxing place for students to grow their science knowledge in the most hands-on way possible. My students come from a rural area where a majority of them live below the poverty line and have not had the access to a variety of life experiences. This garden will provide them with an opportunity they would not have had otherwise.
This grant will provide the necessary materials to establish a new school garden and the tools to maintain it's upkeep. These materials will be available to impact many future years of students! If we are able to build this garden it will last for about 7-10 years; if each year I have around 20 students that's an estimated impact of 120 students just in my class alone!
Items include- garden plots, soil, seeds, sprinkler, hose, starter trays and a picnic table.
