Verizon Foundation - $851.00
The goal of this project is to assist students in small group instruction to increase engagement, participation and to decrease fear of risk taking.
Creating and maintaining a mathematics classroom where small group instruction and collaborative learning benefits students wo haven’t had much success in school because they often show a lack of participation in whole group discussions. Even though they may know the answer to the question that you’re asking they may still be reluctant to participate. Small group environments allow students to take risks they may not have before and allows closer more personal interaction with the teacher.
The classroom groupings must be equipped with the materials students need to become successful. Many of our students lack basic school supplies and the ability of a classroom to be endowed and readily equipped with whiteboards, and pencils and paper and calculators and rulers and journals is crucial to effective collaborative learning.
I expect student test scores to increase and for there to be measurable success of outcomes through EOC scores and proficiencies.
The cost summary is for all 6 periods, approximately 160 students for the year. PLEASE
