Project Goal

My goal is to increase the amount of art literature in my lessons and make projects that are linked to the literature.

How Project Benefits Students

Since I am a new art teacher to the district, I do not have as many resources to pull lessons from. The art position at my school was vacant for quite a while, so most of the supplies that I have were bought for substitute teachers to do the bare minimum version of art. Sadly, my students haven't had much quality art instruction for a while and I want to give them the opportunity to have a rich art program. In order for me to achieve that goal; we need art texts, and supplies that are essential to creating fine art. My hope is to give them more exposure to fine art, and increase their creative abilities so they can reach their potential as artists.

Expected Outcome(s)

Several years ago our school won art competitions, and I would like to bring that level of achievement back to our school. I feel that creating an enriched art program that inspires and elevates my students art abilities will take us to that competitive level again. Since my students come from disadvantaged backgrounds, they do not have much access to fine arts and will likely only learn about them at school. Coming from a disadvantaged background myself, I never had access to learning about fine arts till I went to college. I had a lot talent that was not really tapped into till I was an adult, and I would like to give my students what I did not have access to. My hope is that, my students will learn more about fine art and the techniques to produce fine art with the supplies and texts that our school receives.
