With this project we hope you help students find ways to self-regulate and give them a place to develop and practice the strategies taught to them.
This project will benefit our students long term. They will be able to better control their emotions by finding ways to regulate themselves without hurting themselves or others. This project will provide them with strategies and skills needed to notice when they are in need of a calm space and a break.
Students will be able to ask for a break from a stressful situation and this will lead to less classroom outbursts and more instructional time when they are able to self-regulate and know how to take a cool down and return to their instructional setting.
800 of the cost is for handheld sensory items and books. The other 300 is for sensory seating for students in wheelchairs and that need flexible seating.
