Franklin Middle Magnet offers afterschool enrichment clubs for an hour on most Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. These clubs include Lego, Movie, Multi-Sports, Theatre, Chess, and Golf. To be successful we are in need of additional supplies.
The project benefits students in many ways. It gives them a safe space to hang out after school while learning new skills and hobbies. The students learn about STEM, narrative structure, making movies, playing chess, sportsmanship, acting, and playing instruments all while having fun.
Students get to know each other and form a sense of camaraderie during these afterschool programs. Teachers also get to know the students better, creating a more caring environment. Students also get to learn new skills that they don't other have access to.
