Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Suncoast Credit Union - $701.71
The goal of this project is to help teachers purchase classroom supplies that will bolster their literacy centers to include multi-sensory activities for students. Many students in primary grades are struggling with decoding, so this project will help provide our youngest students will a multi-sensory approach to reading that will hopefully increase their reading scores and prepare them to be successful readers.
Research shows that young students need a multi-sensory approach to develop phonological awareness and phonics skills. However, materials needed for these types of activities are costly and often not provided by the district. The materials purchased with this grant will go straight to teacher classrooms and be in the hands of our students. These materials will enhance our students' educational experiences and will also support our struggling readers. This grant will go towards literacy centers in 10 classrooms! This will be a HUGE impact.
The expected outcome is that more K-2 students are reading on grade level by the end of the year. Teachers will begin utilizing these resources in their daily literacy centers. The resources will support our new B.E.S.T. benchmarks while also being aligned to best practices supported by the science of reading.
Each item listed about will be placed at a literacy center. This grant will fund literacy centers in 10 classrooms! Furthermore, most of these materials are non-consumable and can be used for many years!
