Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Amgen Foundation - $1,815.60
The purpose of this project is to give students more opportunities to participate with hands on projects that help with the Physical Science Concepts of Forces and Motion and STEM activities that involve designing, building, testing, and coding.
By giving students hands on activities using the LEGO BricQ and the LEGO Spike Essential systems, they will build a better understanding of the concept Forces and Motion. Children love using LEGOs and when students are engaged or enjoy what they are doing they remember the activities/concepts being taught. Also, by using the LEGO systems students work on team building skills to solve real world problems, which is a skill that they will need as adults.
The LEGO kits will be used during STEM time. The students will be designing, building, coding and testing their prototypes to demonstrate/apply their understanding of the concepts Forces and Motion through the context of sports.
Using the LEGO kits will also help the students become more creative and out of the box thinkers.
By using the LEGO BricQ and LEGO SPIKE Essentials kits the students will have a better understanding of Forces and Motion.
The students will become better problem solvers and practice team building skills.
It will help Fifth Graders students do better on the FSSA in the area of Physical Science-Forces and Motion.
The kits will be used by 4 to 5 teachers and with students K-5. These kits will be used yearly, with many more students to benefit by using the LEGO kits.
The cost would be for four LEGO BricQ Essential Kits ($133.95 per kit) and four LEGO Spike Essential kits ($319.95 per kit). All materials would be purchased through LEGO Education.
