The project goal is to build a calm down corner where student can go to reflect on their needs, emotions, and struggles. This will be a safe place for decompressing and refocusing.
My ESE students have IEPs with behavior goals. I want to build a calm down corner to help support those goals and help support their social emotional needs.
Students will be able to self-reflect, decompress, and calm down in the area. This area will also help students identify their emotions and feelings. This area will be utilized by all of our ESE behavior support classes.
The requested items will help create a comfortable and cozy calm down area for my special education students. The sensory items will help my students focus and fidget while they calm down. All of these items will give my students different options to express themselves and communicate their needs and feelings.
