This project will give my students a hands on understanding of the way water moves throughout the water cycle.
At the end of 5th grade students will take a statewide science assessment that may include questions about the water cycle. This engaging activity will allow students to identify the states of water (solid, liquid, and gas) as it moves through the water cycle; as well as describe the process of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation.
Students will have a better understanding of the water cycle and its processes. They will be able to use key vocabulary when communicating with one another about their journeys.
Each colored bead represents a different part of the water cycle (clouds, ocean, river, lake, plants, animals, ground water, soil, glacier). As students complete their journey as a water droplet, they will collect a bead for each location they "visit." The beads will be placed on their pipe cleaner as a visual of their unique journey. Students will be able to add a lanyard hook to attach it to their backpack and share it with their family or friends.
